Budapest Retro I

Papp Gabor Zsigmond

Hungary, 1998

REVIEWS

This creative documentary film shows “Kadar-era” in Hungary (around 1957–1989). Stylistically it brings in mind the aesthetics of cinema’s “newsreels”. The archival footage, re-edited and re-narrated, sometimes provides new meaning to the pictures. The film successfully re-constructs the old days with vintage clothes, hair styles and leisure activities.
